About this tool
Passwords are generated with your browser’s Web Crypto API, a cryptographically secure random number generator. Characters are chosen without modulo bias, and every selected character type is guaranteed to appear. Nothing is stored, logged or sent anywhere – the page makes no network requests while generating.
Each result is checked against the Microsoft Entra ID password policy: 8–256 characters, allowed characters only and three of four categories. Entra ID additionally rejects passwords on its banned password list, which randomly generated passwords practically never hit.
Passphrases use the EFF large wordlist by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, licensed under CC BY 3.0 US – modified: four words containing a hyphen were removed. Five random words provide about 64 bits of entropy – easy to type, hard to guess. The crack time assumes an offline attack at 10 billion guesses per second; online attacks against Entra ID are far slower due to smart lockout.
Tip: clipboard managers and synced clipboards may keep copied passwords. Clear them after use.
